“A-san No Niwa” is a ward park in Asagaya, Suginami Ward.It’s in a quiet residential area.Actually, this small park is also designed by Hayao Miyazaki’s concept.
「Aさんの庭」は、杉並区の阿佐ヶ谷にある、区立の公園です。静かな住宅地の中にあります。実は、この小さな公園は、宮崎駿さんがコンセプトを考えて、デザインもしています。
Once upon a time, there was a blending of Japanese and Western style house with a very good atmosphere. Mr. Hayao Miyazaki visited the house and wrote about it in a book called “Totoro’s House”(1991) in which Totoro actually seems to live in a private house.

2009 … Totoro’s house (Mr. K’s house) was burned down due to a suspicious fire. The plan to open the park was aborted.
2009 … Mr. Miyazaki submits a designed plan to Suginami Ward while leaving Mr. K’s house and garden as much as possible, saying, “I can’t leave it alone.”
July 25, 2010 … Mr. Miyazaki’s plan was approved by Suginami Ward and “Mr. A’s Garden” opened.
